Would dyeing spandex remove the original design?

Hey everyone,
I'm trying to make a legitimate Aquaman costume and need some help. I'm trying to figure out how to make the fish-scale effect on the spandex. I found a full body suit that has fish-scales printed on it already, but it only comes in green or black and some sold by the yard. I know it is possible to dye some types of spandex, but not sure if these ones are ok for dying. here are some links to the style spandex i was im looking at.
(I know that if I dyed the full spandex suit I would have to cut it and such and would rather avoid all the hassle)

so here are the questions I have; If I were to dye it orange, would the scale effect disappear? Is there another store that offers neon orange fish-scale spandex? Also any suggestions on ways to do the other aspects of the suit would be much appreciated.

Here is a link to the Aquaman style costume I'm looking to create if a picture would help you.

To dye this garment, you would lose the stretchiness of the fabric. Very hot water has to be used with dye. You may try doing it with an orange colored permanent marker.

orange + blue or green = muckledun browns.

Easier to find a plain orange fabric you like and then screenprint or stamp the pattern you want into it.
