You shouldn't cute your food intake in half so suddenly.
You should gradually lower your intake by a few hundred calories per day.
Weigh yourself after a week and see the results.
Then exercise and keep reducing your calories a little bit each week and you should safely lose weight.

cravings can sneak up on you when you re tired try taking a nap if you feel yourself wanting some junk food

Nothing will happen. If you only eat 1000 calories a day (the average needed is 2000, so it's cutting your meal in half like the question) you will only burn 1000 calories. You'll be too tired to go about your day normally, so you won't be as active, therefore burning less calories.

I know you said you've already tried it, but I suggest exercise. Eat about 2000 calories a day (it could vary, depending on your age and how active you are). DO NOT eat those diet versions of foods, like diet Pepsi and low calorie cheezits. They take out the unwanted fats and sugars, but they replace it with artificial crap that's EVEN WORSE. Which leads me to another thing: try not to eat as many sugary or fatty foods. Eat things with nutrients, like whole grain breads.

3300 calories=1 pound. If you can burn a thousand more than you eat a day, you'd lose a pound every three or so days. The magic is in the math
