I am actually currently trying to transition from eating meat to vegetarianism. So I am currently a pesco/ovo-lacto vegetarian...

Anyway, the best diet for my health and weight has always been low-carb/Atkins.

Does anyone know of a vegetarian version of this type of diet?

Books, websites, menus would all be helpful.

Constructive, helpful answers ONLY please :)

Thanks!

I'm a vegetarian, and eat some fish. You might realize that you don't need a "diet" once you make the transition from eating meat. It's really better to eat a variety of foods that include grains, and potatoes and all of those foods you're probably avoiding on atkins.

I think eating natural foods is key. Eating whole grain breads and pasta is much better for your body than white breads and pasta.

This article from the food network suggests some ways to supplement proteins with grains and veggies.

I recommend reading everything you can about nutrition. I think you'll find that you'll naturally be a lot more conscious of what you're eating when you stop eating meat.

Carbs don't seem to be unhealthy for you! Don't permit anybody let you know or else. There are 2 varieties of carbs - functional and difficult. Simple carbs are located in matters reminiscent of sugar, soda, white bread/pasta, speedy meals, cookies, and so on. Complex carbs are located in matters reminiscent of entire grain bread/pasta, Fruits and Veggies, Peanut Butter, Oats, Etc. Once it involves carbs stick with the difficult! Making the transfer you're going to uncover that you will not be consuming as a lot of the crappy stuff. But listed here are a few of my favourite vegetarian lunches/dinners: - Mixed Greens, one million/four cup of strawberries, 6 stripes of morning famous person farms chickn. Top with italian dressing. - one million can of chickpeas, tired. one million/two bottle BBQ sauce. (Mix in combination. Microwave for approximately two mins. This makes approximately 4 servings) Serve on most sensible of brown rice. - Veggie Burgers are highly low in carb. Switch to entire grain for the bun and also you must be ultimate. Serve with vegetables like broccoli, inexperienced beans, and so on.
