Power Adapter Degrade Appliance?

Postby Selden » Tue Oct 10, 2017 5:38 pm

Google tells me that the Australian grid operates at a nominal 230 Volts, 50 Hz.

U.S. power is 115 Volts, 60 Hz.

Your friend will need a "step-down" transformer, big enough to handle the current draw of the food processor (which can be pretty big; bigger than a blender).
A simple plug adapter won't do it.

If she has the right transformer, the food processor motor may still run a little slower in Oz (that's the 50 Hz, vs 60 Hz power).

It will probably be more trouble than it's worth to get a U.S. food processor to operate properly in Oz.
If it were me, I wouldn't carry it home.

As long as the appliance voltage requirements are met it should work great.
