Hi guys! Okay, so I'm 17 years old (female), 5'1", and currently about 87-88 lbs. I am a cross country runner, and since it's off season I only have been running maybe 2-3 days per week (4-6 miles each time i run usually). I've recently started seeing a trainer at the gym 2x a week, but we haven't really been doing much yet--just foundational stuff really. I'm trying to gain more muscle, but I'm terrified of getting "fatter." I met with a nutrition coach at the gym and she gave me a meal plan to follow, but it seems like SO much food and SO much protein. They are also pressing me to drink protein shakes as well. But the problem is I feel like by eating all of this food and this amount of protein, I'm definitely going to gain fat and not just muscle because my working out is definitely not very intense. An example of a meal plan she gave me for a day is as follows:
Breakfast
2 slices whole grain bread
1 large orange
1 cup plain greek yogurt 0%
1 whole egg + 2 egg whites
Snack
Small apple
2 string cheeses
Lunch
2 slices whole wheat bread
2 slices lean deli meat
salad with 2 whole eggs
small fruit
Snack:
1/2 cup cottage cheese
small apple
1 cup almond milk
Lunch:
2 heaping serving spoonfuls of pasta with sauce
1 cup veggies
Snack:
1 cup plain greek yogurt with fruit
Popcorn
oh and she said my minimum caloric intake should be around 2200 which i feel is very high..
i'm also concerned about the weight gain too because i used to be slightly chubby and shed off those pounds last summer and i really don't want to gain that back.
