Anyone Tried The Hcg Diet?

You should be asking the experts.

The hcg diet is a scam because HCG does nothing for fat loss. It was a scam from the get go and doesn't work any more than the other junk on the market like acai or green tea. Even if you manage to lose some weight from the diet alone you will only gain rebound fat because you've done nothing to change your eating habits. That will lead to yo-yo'ing until you finally learn that diets don't work and the only way to lose fat and keep it gone is to make a lifetime commitment to proper eating habits. After all, staying slim only gets more difficult with age. So, you may as well make that commitment now and establish proper eating habits instead of trying an easy way that doesn't work.

Check the following excerpts from the US National Institute of Health...the place where the doctors get their information regarding health research. And, if you can't bring yourself to believe the science, visit your physician and find out for yourself. You'll be wise to ignore the random strangers of unknown credibility with no references or citations who are simply credulous believers incapable of recognizing their own placebo effect.

Here's what the experts have to say.

"In recent publications describing mostly well-documented double-blind studies authors largely reject hCG administration in dieting. Supporters of the hCG diet must prove the efficacy of this method in controlled studies according to the German Drug Law. Until then the opinion of the German steroid toxicology panel is still valid, that hCG is ineffective in dieting and should not be used."

"Treatment of obesity with human chorionic gonadotrophin was shown to be of no better value than saline in a double-blind crossover study of weight reduction in obese subjects. There was also no significant difference in mood, hunger, or missed injections, and no apparent difference in adherence to diet when the two agents were compared. In contrast, a significant difference was found in the ability of subjects to lose weight in the first four weeks of the study in contrast with the second four weeks, no matter which agent was used. Thus, the initiation of a new therapeutic program, even using an inert agent, has a temporary benefit--a manifestation both of placebo effect and the Hawthorne effect."

"We conclude that there is no rationale for the use of HCG injections in the treatment of obesity."

"Supporters of the hCG diet must prove the efficacy of this method in controlled studies according to the German Drug Law. Until then the opinion of the German steroid toxicology panel is still valid, that hCG is ineffective in dieting and should not be used"

Ref: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/3609673

"The success of the diet was based on motivation and good information, rather than on the hCG administration."

Ref: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/12281505

"Subjects receiving HCG injections showed no advantages over those on placebo in respect of any of the variables recorded. Furthermore, weight loss on our diet was similar to that on severely restricted intake. We conclude that there is no rationale for the use of HCG injections in the treatment of obesity."

Ref: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/12281505

"The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is advising consumers to steer clear of these "homeopathic" human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG) weight-loss products.
They are sold in the form of oral drops, pellets and sprays and can be found online and in some retail stores."

Ref: http://www.fda.gov/ForConsumers/ConsumerUpdates/ucm281333.htm

"You won?t see me promoting quick fixes or fad diets anytime soon. But every once in awhile something comes along that seems so dangerous I have to call it out. That?s why I?m going to help reveal the truth behind the HCG diet."

"Human chorionic gonadotropin is of no value in the management of obesity."

People have, most have given up.

Andrew Shao of the Council for Responsible Nutrition, an industry group, says HCG is "not considered a legal dietary ingredient and therefore cannot be sold as a dietary supplement. I am not aware of any scientific evidence that supports its use when taken orally."

Because HCG is a peptide hormone, it would be broken down by the stomach and rendered ineffective, he says.

Not only is the diet no more effective than calorie restriction alone, the HCG also doesn?t affect hunger or other more subjective factors of dieting.

When using any hormone it is always best to mimic the body?s natural method for delivery. HCG is normally made by glands and distributed directly into the bloodstream. Hormones taken orally will be absorbed by the gut first and metabolized by liver, where some may be lost. Optimally, self-administered subcutaneous injections into belly skin are needed. No need to fear, the needles are extremely small and virtually painless. For those that are especially needle phobic, other methods of HCG delivery are possible, but may not be as effective .
