While bipolar disorder makes people much more prone to severe episodes of depression, that doesn't mean all depression someone with bipolar disorder experiences is abnormal or bipolar depression.

Anyone would be depressed given your history. You do need to deal with that.

Have you tried lamotrigine or adding an antidepressant? If you're suicidal, a short course of antipsychotics might help.

Also try working on you're expectations. Because of your mood disorder you may never be able to function like you once could have. It is a disability even if you're high functioning. That's life so, make the most of what you got.
